Last Stand (The Black Mage #4) by Rachel E. Carter

I really don’t know how to write a convincing review for everyone to give this series a chance. To be honest when you see the book covers it looks like the same as other fantasy books and it didn’t even stand, I did’t even noticed this years ago when it was published  but I’m glad it took me a while to read them because I would be a mess of feelings dealing with each book’s endings while waiting for the next book to come out.

I never thought it would all come to this, the story and the characters evolved so much I could not even describe everything properly because I’m just a bundle of feelings and this series gripped me so much. It was all about pain, grief and revenge gone are the innocent first years from the first book, what they are are shades of gray. I don’t even think that the author will give me my happy ending because page by page I was breaking for the characters.

“Gods, every one of us was tainted. All of us shades of gray. This world of innocence was a lie.”

It only has 453 pages but I swear to you every page was worth the read, there was nothing dragging about this series. I’m a sucker for Fantasy Romance books but I believe it’s more than that, the writing was beautiful and the way Rachel E. Carter described every feeling especially that epilogue.

I swear the tears just kept on flowing and I wish I could just hug someone right now and just talk about how this book should get more readers because truly it deserves more and I’ll be adding this series to my favorites.

  1. The evolution of the plot in this series is unimaginable. I never thought it would come to this, Henzy. It seemed too innocent and fun in the first book and gaaah! The series left me in a mess of puddles of tears. Congrats on finishing the series. I’m so happy you finally gave this a chance. ❤
